Sick Days Essentials

Coming down with the flu and bound to stay at home is one of the worst feelings. Still, instead of being a mess and feeling sorry for myself I try to keep myself busy. Now that I'm a bit poorly, it's an excuse to start that book I wanted, watch that silly movie, cover up with a blanket, and drink several cups of tea.

When I’m feeling under the weather, I tend to stay indoors as much as possible, which means makeup is kept to a minimum. Yet, that doesn’t imply that cleansing is unnecessary as the mere process of it is very refreshing and helps me actually feel better and healthier. I’m currently using the Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser (which despite being gentle) makes my skin squeaky clean, a feeling I quite enjoy under the circumstances.

After cleansing comes moisturizing, and in times like these I need something more than that. Cicaplast is not a moisturizer or a cream, it’s a balm targeted at dry and flaky skin (which I get a lot around the eyes and nose), but not at all greasy or uncomfortable to use by someone on the oilier side. As it is a “reconstructive” balm, it can help with any dry patches or flakiness that a cold or a flu can leave you with. It can also be used on the lips as a lip balm.
What I choose to use on my lips though, is the Nuxe Rêve de Miel which is by far the best lip balm I’ve tried. It doesn’t simply add a layer of moisture to my lips, it actually heals them when they are dry or even cracked. I usually keep this little pot by my side and apply before I go to bed, but when I'm sick and extra dehydrated I tend to whip it out more often.
